Our story
Made by Daniel Okafor, Bella Vista.
I learned to stitch from a saddle maker in Siloam Springs who had been doing it for fifty years and did not believe in sewing machines. He is the reason every seam I make is two needles and a length of waxed thread, pulled tight by hand, one hole at a time. It is slower. It also means that if a stitch ever breaks, the rest hold.
Still Creek Leather is a small shop at the end of a gravel road in Bella Vista. I use vegetable-tanned leather from two American tanneries, cut every piece by hand from the hide, and finish edges with beeswax and a lot of burnishing. Hardware is solid brass because plated brass wears through.
Everything I make is guaranteed for life, and I mean the repairs part: send it back and I will fix it for free, however old it is. A good wallet should be an heirloom, not a purchase.
