Our story
Made by Lena Hart, Winslow.
The kitchen is in a farmhouse at the top of the Boston Mountains, and on a good day you can smell what I am pouring from the road. Boston Mountain Candle Co. started as a way to use up beeswax from my neighbor's hives, and it stayed small on purpose: ten candles to a batch, poured by hand, labeled by hand, cured on the windowsill.
The soap came later and follows the old cold-process method: oils and lye, stirred until it traces, cut the next day, then six weeks on a rack before it ships. Botanicals are from the garden out back; scent is essential oils only, so some batches are stronger than others and I am not going to pretend otherwise.
I do not do fragrance oils, dyes, or anything I cannot pronounce. If you have been burned by candles that smell like a mall, these will be a change of pace.
